Brainspotting
Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful, focused treatment method that promotes rapid and effective change by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, and a variety of other unresolved issues or challenging symptoms.
Developed by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting makes use of the natural phenomenon of where you look affects how you feel through its use of relevant eye positions. Through pairing a fixed eye position along with body sensation awareness, unresolved issues and trauma stored in the deeper areas of the brain are able to be accessed. Through this process, it is easier to access the parts of the brain that are directly involved in relation and dysregulation. If clients are uncomfortable with talking about their past traumatic experiences, this modality will enable them to heal without having to tell or retell their story. Individuals are also guided in locating internal resources to support integration emotionally, mentally, somatically, physically, and connecting one to their body’s innate wisdom to heal itself. BSP may be successfully integrated alongside other therapies and clients are encouraged to be well supported as they experience deep healing and growth.
